YUM!

For those of you that know us you are aware that we don't very often sit down to the table with your typical meat and potato meal!

One of our favorite meals to prepare is a seafood boil. Generally we don't do this unless we have friends or family over as it makes so much and we alway thought it was easier to make a big batch. Saturday night we were both craving a boil and thought even though it was just the two of us we would try it on a smaller scale. It turned out perfectly tastey!

We had a very relaxing evening and the meal became our entertainment. Aubrey helped prepare by puttting up the umbrella on the table; or she tried too! It was the two steps toward one step back deal! She turned the crank the right way then would switch and turn the wrong way! She finally gave up and had me take over.

In all we had a great evening! The weather was perfect and just right for a fire in the pit. Then soak in the hot tub and we were all ready for a good nights sleep!

NIGHT, NIGHT!

I listed this set on eBay on Friday. I've tried to get Aubrey to model for me but she just doesn't enjoy it. Guess modeling isn't in her future. I think she was collecting bugs and that drew more of an interest for her! Good thing for me that Joni's daughter is about the same size. Maddie is just a bit taller. Plus she does tend to stand still for pictures!
This was fun to make! I enjoy doing the applique work the best. I love to draw and this is one way to draw a picture onto fabric!

Aubrey has been really into picking me flowers. Her favorite flower to pick for me are dandelions! I don't have the heart to tell her that they are just weeds yet. I have several columbine groupings in my front yard that are just beautiful this year. Aubrey picked a red bloom for me for Mothers Day. One of Aubrey's favorite things to do is help daddy grind coffee. We have an electric grinder but she likes to turn the crank on the hand grinder and also Chuck thinks it does a better job! Last night my friend Joni came over to sew. She has her machine set up in my sewing room. I have created a monster!! I've told her that a good habit to get into is to ONLY buy fabric when you have completed a probject! The other day she was showing my all the fabric she has been buying on eBay. It's official!! She's addicted!!!

Pictured above are Joni's two youngest Maddie and Caden with Aubrey. They were struck by something funny on a DVD and I just had to snap a few pictures. The three of them were laughing so hard they were in tears! Giggles and laughs out of children are some of the sweetest sounds!

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a great mother's day! I started on Saturday with a mother/daughter luncheon with my mother. We had a great time together. It was held at the church I grew up in so there were lots of people I knew. Many I haven't seen in years. My dad watched Aubrey for the afternoon. She had a great time being spoiled by Grandpa!

On Saturday Chuck put a small pond in for me in my flower garden. I think it looks great! I will post pictures for you soon! Sunday afternoon when most moms probably wanted to be resting and being pampered, I decided I wanted to work in the yard lugging bags of mulch and top soil!

It was a busy weekend but an enjoyable one! I wouldn't have had it any other way!

The colors I picked for spring!

It is that time of year again! I always get grand ideas of what I want the landscaping to look like in my yard until I head to the stores. It is there the reality of what it would take to accomplish this hits and I become so overwelmed! There is so much to choose from....Do I want annuals or perananils? Which color scheme do I like? How much do I want to spend? My plans were to buy all the plants needed to do the front AND the back yard. That quickly changed when I became overwelmed with the variety to pick from. I did the smart thing and started small. I picked everything I needed to do the front of the house and headed home to get started.

We have royal blue shutters and door on our house but are on painting those yet this spring to a nice deep burgandy. I found a selection of geraniums in a deep burganday color and knew I just needed to have them! They are beautiful and I like the idea of having something different. The rest of the plants I picked are in the deep pinks and purples family. I'm really happy with how the front of the house looks now. Now if only I can get the shutters done soon!

My planting adventure in the front yard was not very time consuming so I headed off to the back yard to work on expanding my flower bed there. It is still a work in progress as I worked well into the evening digging up sod. There has got to be an easier way to do this!!! Aubrey and I headed off to Home Depot to buy top soil and mulch. There I found the plants that I had pictured would work perfect in this flower bed!! WOW!! I loaded the truck up good! I didn't ever stop to consider if all this soil and mulch would be too much of a heavy load!! I made it home safely and the truck in one piece. My weekend planting was very rewarding but boy am I sore!! I needed to get back to work so I could get a rest!!
