My house was broken into last night.

We were home asleep in bed and not one of us heard a thing.

Two Hundred dollars was taken from a wallet and a five dollar bill was taken from the kitchen desk. The five dollar bill was laying right next to my digital camera....it wasn't even touched. The screen above the kitchen window was cut open and that is the point of entry. Then the patio door was left open about six inches as they left the house.

By the end of the day I had a splitting headache from thinking about it, fretting about why we forgot to close that one window. I'll have to let you know tomorrow if I was actually able to sleep tonight.

In light of all that has happened I still feel that we are truly blessed. It could have been so much worse then it was. We are all safe.

Please pray for us that we can have some peace about all this. I'm sure it will take some time to get over some of the fear that goes along with it.

Aubrey asked me to play sidewalk chalk with her the other night.....before you know it I was working on a masterpiece! My temporary art piece is at the foot of our drive way and will be on display until the next rain fall.

FARMING 101

I thought I'd give you all an update on Aubrey's soybean crop that I posted about a little while back.....

Does anyone have a good recipe for rabbit stew? It seems that between the heavy rain Iowa has received and the large population of rabbits that live in our neighborhood, our crop is now down to about only one plant. Aubrey is learning that just because you plant it doesn't mean that it will grow. She was a bit disappointed when we got home from vacation that all of her crop was munched off but now it seems she has forgotten her plight and moved onto something else!

Now if I can just figure out how to keep the rabbits away from all my other plants and flowers I will be a happy, happy girl. If you all have any ideas please let me know!!

A Fun Photo Session in the Dunes!

I have always wanted to get pictures of Aubrey in a simple summer white dress with her tucked into the dunes near the ocean. While planning this latest trip I figured there was no better time then now to get that done.

Aubrey and I went to the fabric store to buy the white fabric needed for the dress.....no, I really didn't have any white fabric in my "stash"....believe it or not!! Anyway, she helped me pick everything out....the fabric, pattern and even the lace.

So as we went about our business on our trip we kept our eye open for the perfect location. We found it in a place called Pawley's Island, just north of Georgetown, South Carolina.

I'm proud of how the photos turned out....I hope you all enjoy them too.

On Sunday we got back from our vacation to the Carolina's. We spent about two days at Brian's. Aubrey was so excited to see Carson and Ava! It was all she could talk about on the way down.

Later we drove on down to Myrtle Beach for some relaxing time in the sun and surf. We spent most of the time at the beach but did manage to squeeze in a day to beautiful, historical Charleston, South Carolina. I would love to go back there and spend more time checking out all the sites and learning more about the history that the town holds. It seems that the older I get the more I enjoy learning about the past of the places we travel to.

One of the highlights of the trip for Aubrey was the Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. She was amazed that so many of the fish we saw were in the movie Nemo!!

We spent hours upon hours swimming at the pool!

Playing around in Uncle Brian's back yard.

Building sand and shell castles on the beach was highlight!

We took a day trip to Charlston. Here is Aubrey at Battery Park.
