So, as you have read from a previous post, Aubrey will be starting school in a few weeks. So far the only problem I have with her starting school has been what to do about getting her to and from. Since her school is a "late start" school (9:00 AM) and I work full time and have to be at work at 8:00 AM, I'm not going to be able to take her and pick her up. So that means I have to hire a sitter that can do this for me. At the beginning of the summer the sitter I had lined up backed out on me so the search began again.
Anyway....enough of the rambling on and on........I have now found someone that is more then happy to take her to school AND pick her up. THIS MAKES ME SOOOOO HAPPY !!! She is a neighbor and has a first grader! A new friend for Aubrey to place with!!
So, I will now rest a bit easier tonight knowing that this one hurtle has been crossed!

IT SURE IS QUIET AT OUR HOUSE!!
Aubrey is at Grandma & Grandpa Hilbrant's house for the rest of the week.
It has been really quiet around here.
We've gone out to eat and I've actually gotten to finish my meal without her hanging all over me at the table.
My house has been clean since Monday!
Do you think there is some kind of connection?
I'm sure I will miss her soon! But for now it has been nice to take a little breather and enjoy some me time for a change.

A Post for the benefit of my mother!!
BELATED BIRTHDAY!
July 25th was Chuck's birthday....
One of Aubrey's gifts to her daddy was making him a chocolate cake all by herself.
For the most part she did make most of the cake herself. Here she is mixing the cake.....all by herself.
Cleaning out the mixing bowl.......all by herself.
Frosting the cake.....all by herself.

ONE STEP CLOSER TO STARTING SCHOOL !!
I was VERY, VERY proud of her. She let the nurse weigh, measure, take her temp, blood pressure, check her heart, lungs, and eye sight. She answered questions when asked and even gave the doctor a big hug! We love Dr. Christa!!
Next order of business....the shots! She knew they were coming but I'm sure she didn't have ANY idea of what to expect! OH MY did she ever turn RED!! But all is well now....she has even taken one of the band-aides off!! We are normally fighting to get those off of her after a few days!
Now, the only thing left before school is a new outfit, and her back-pack. We will probably go out one night this week and try to get that done so we aren't scrambling at the last minute.

A SNEAK PEEK !!
A FUN LITTLE CONTEST.
I'm always up for a contest!!! For this one I'm trying to win the quilt that's pictured in the sidebar over there. I earn points for posting about the quilt and also points for adding the sidebar picture. What could it hurt.......just a little fun.....but since I usually don't win anything I'm not getting my hopes up.

SEWING WEEKEND MARATHON
I've been spending the weekend catching up on some sewing projects. So far I have two completed.
I'm also piecing together a few quilt blocks for another project..... My friend Joni has been here sewing as well. I mentioned to her that my grandmother would most likely be rolling over in her grave right now.....why? Well, first and foremost I purchased my fabric for the quilt blocks....I'm not using scraps already on hand. Second....I'm using a rotary cutter and I'm machine piecing....and FINALLY, I'm in no way sitting in front of the TV watching Lawrence Welk!
Can a quilt block actually be pieced together without the aid of Lawrence Welk on the telly? We will have to see..... I'll share some pictures later of the finished blocks.

Finishing up the Holiday weekend.
I don't have any pictures to share.....sorry!
We all had a calm, relaxing weekend. Chuck has been on call so any out of town plans were out of the question.
We did have a cookout at our house on the evening of the fourth. Ribs and chicken....yummmm!! Aubrey zonked out on the living room floor before it got dark and so we didn't have a chance to do sparklers.
Saturday we bought a hammock chair to hang from the tree. The three of us have been fighting over who gets to sit in it....I see another one in the future!
Today Aubrey and I went to Splash Landing. A local outdoor pool.....even if the weather hasn't been too hot it was still nice and relaxing.
Now to just kick back for the rest of the evening and enjoy some peace and quiet before starting the work week all over again tomorrow.

So in about ten and a half years Aubrey will be driving a "full" sized car of her very own. She will probably be getting a job, going to school activities, going to the mall.....until then I think I'll just enjoy the simple times where the car runs out of juice before it can get to the end of the neighborhood.
Something to look forward to.
I have to load pictures yet but soon I will be posting pictures of something that I have to look forward to in the next ten years or so.......
Tune in soon for the pictures!
