FLASHBACK FRIDAY! (a day early!)

I thought it would be fun to go back and re-live some of the old pictures I have of Aubrey.
Some that I will share over the coming weeks will be grainy because I have only had the digital camera for about three years now. The photos like this one I'm sharing today will be scanned so the quality won't be the best.
This photo was taken at a studio and I believe Aubrey was just over one year old. Probably taken in late January of 2004. We had just started to grow out her bangs and were keeping her hair pulled back in a clippy. This has always been one of my favorite studio photos we had taken.

i have joined a quilt challenge group today. i've been trying to really get back into quilting because i've really missed it. i thought this looked like a fun way to meet other quilters and have a goal for a completed project. it should be fun to see what the final quilt looks like. i have already started working on the january block (since i joined this group late). hopefully within the next couple days i'll be able to post pictures of my progress here and on the "Calendar Quilt Challenge" blog.
stay tuned!

IT'S BROKEN

So, I've normally considered myself a safe driver. One that can handle the harsh cold winter driving conditions without being a whenie. But since purchasing our latest driveable, a 2005 golden colored, Chevy Trailblazer, it seems that my confidence has tanked.

Last year I was driving and almost did a full circle while going around the corner. My stupidity i'm sure. This year has been no different. Yesterday it fish tailed on me twice while driving to work. BUT...this morning I experience more problems. Noticing that the truck in front of me was slowing, I did the same. Then noticing that the truck in front of me was getting closer and closer put me into full alert because my truck wasn't stopping like I thought it should. Next, seeing his bumper and thinking that if I didn't do something fast I would be soon be rammed into the back end of this truck....some quick thinking was needed. My first impulse (and best as it turns out) was to drive up over the curb and into the snow.....which is what i did. After driving off the road and realizing "oh CRAP" I didn't see that snow bank in my path.....I did the only thing possible and that was to drive into the snow bank coming straight for me.....which as it turns out I didn't drive "into" it but "through" it. With time to catch my breath, slow my heartbeat down a bit and wave to the people driving by me thinking I'm some sort of retard for sitting on the side of the busiest road in town in a snowbank, I have time to figure out how I'm going to get out of this mess. One of the thoughts that crossed my mind was....well if I put it into 4-wheel drive then I souldn't have any problems getting out of this mess....no big deal...just a fun story to tell my husband. Yippee!

I made it to work on time sort of....but had to take some time to check for any damage to my bumper. Yep, it's cracked. I will have to check on it again but I'm sure there is only just bumper damage. The cold was sure to play a part in the damage as well. With the temps as low as they are, I'm sure running into a pile of cotton balls would have caused the same amount of damage.

NOW TO INFORM THE HUSBAND.....dun, dun, dun....gulp!

Would you believe I think he was almost thrilled? Remember the post just before Christmas that I told you about his only wish for Christmas was to receive a new truck? Let's just say that the wheels are turning in his brain and it's making me nervous.

I'm am thankful that I was not hurt. I'm thankful that I didn't hit another vehicle and drag them into an insurance nightmare and most of all, I'm thankful that I'm still not sitting out in a snowbank on the side of 53rd Avenue in the sub-zero temps waving to the passers by like a retard!

general updates.

all is well with aubrey. she has finished her full course of her new medication and didn't have an allergic reaction. she is feeling 100% better and is also eating us out of house and home. she is a much happier girl then she had been.

chuck is feeling better too. he had been a bit under the weather over the new year holiday as well. as for me, i think it is all starting to catch up with me as i've had a dry scratchy throat since friday.

i have wanted to update the picture at the top of the blog and also update the music but just haven't had the energy....so you will all have to put up with it for a bit longer.

since aubrey was feeling better this weekend, we did have a chance to play with some of her new toys from christmas. on saturday she spent HOURS on her new digital art studio. she loves it!

in other news, i will be looking for a new babysitter again. angie and her husband have decided that she needs to go back to work parttime. she will be doing substitute teaching and since that schedule is one that you never know until the morning when you wake up then she can't watch aubrey. so back to the drawing board i go.

other then that we have had a quiet week and weekend. i have been having some problems with my email so if any of you are trying to send me mail....chances are i'm not getting it.

hope to update more later.

Sickness Report

Today Aubrey headed off to school. As of Noon today I haven't heard from the school nurse so all must be going well so far.

Last night, one final little glitch in her recovery.....she seems to be allergic to this medication. This is her second bout with Strep and so far we are two for two with the allergic reactions to medications. Last night I noticed bug bit looking welts all over her body. So, off to Walgreens we go again....this time, Benedryl. After falling asleep in my arms and getting her put in bed it appeared that the welts were gone. Looks like we caught it in time.

EDIT:
Aubrey seemed to have a good day at school. When I went to Angie's to pick her up she really didn't want to leave.....that is always a good sign. Chuck called the doc and got her a new medication. Aubrey hadn't finished the full course of the original medication so the doctor thought it best to continue and completely zap the strep.
