A TRIP AROUND THE WORLD

just end of the school year activities, dance recital practices and bridging from daisies to brownies happening around our house.

there are only eight days of school left. can't believe that i will soon have a second grader! where does the time go! i had better start planning her high school graduation soon!

we will have a week of no school then we will hop in the car and head off on the first of two vacations that we have planned this summer. we will be heading northeast for the first trip. driving into canada and then taking a ferry to an island that is in the middle of lake erie. pelee island, ontario, canada. how did we hear about it? didn't actually. just saw it on the map, thought it looked interesting, did some internet searching and decided to give it a shot. i'll let you know later how it is!

another thing i've been doing lately is of course more quilting. i took a long arm class last week so i can rent the machine in the future. i have a feeling i just may become hooked......

also in the line of quilting, i've joined a few more online quilting bee's. one of them i was the first to send out fabric. i've been getting blocks back in from several of the ladies. when i get a couple more i'll snap some pictures for you all to see. the second one i'm part of i will have to wait till next march to send out my fabric. that should give me plenty of time to come up with something original....maybe!

and finally the last bee i'm apart of is a bit different. it is a round robin journey bee. i made a starter block, wrote up my instructions, sent along some fabric and mailed it out to the next person on the list. it will travel to 20 other ladies before arriving back in the mail to me. it will travel thoughout the US then a couple stops in Australia, England, and Germany before coming home. along with making a block we will also be making a journal page or scrapbook page to go along with the block.

i have yet to make a "holiday/christmas/winter" type quilt so this is what i came up with for my starter block. i really wanted to do a Christmas themed quilt but would you believe it was toooooooo early for fabric? and would you believe that i don't have christmas fabric in the house?

Deanna,

I love your block and I am so happy you have decided to do a Christmas theme. I am sure the group will make something special for you.
